Cupprimo

Cupprimo is my favorite place in Austin to get cupcakes! This family-owned store offers a good variety of gluten-free cupcake flavors. You can check their website to see which flavors are available for each day of the week. Gluten-free cakes are now available to order. Gluten-free mini cupcakes are only available by pre-ordering 2 dozen – with choices of chocolate or vanilla. I usually order the minis to take with me for potlucks and holiday events. They are always a hit! Everyone is surprised when I say the cupcakes are gluten-free. Cupprimo was featured in the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. They also offer coffee and have T-shirts available.

Jeni’s Ice Cream

Jeni’s ice cream has come to Austin with locations at the Domain and South Congress. They are also sold at Whole Foods. When you go into a Jeni’s ice cream shop, you can look at the labels to see which flavors are gluten-free. My favorite is Gooey Butter Cake! Be sure to tell the server of your gluten allergy and that you do not want the piece of waffle in your ice cream cup that they usually put in. If you prefer to order online, you can click on each flavor’s ingredients/nutrition facts to see which ones are labeled as gluten-free.

OMG Squee

With its hot pink décor and fun dessert colors, OMG Squee is an exciting place to grab a sweet treat. It’s also listed as 100% gluten-free! I went mid-day and they were out of a lot of items. They gave me a heads up to come early as there is usually a line waiting! They serve Asian-American deserts and their menu includes macarons, butter mochi donuts, taiyaki soft serve, and bubble tea. They have some fun stickers and merchandise in the store as well and you can order online.

Pie Jacked

Pie Jacked is located on the outskirts of Austin in Round Rock, TX. They are gluten-free and vegan friendly. They have an assortment of pies as well as cakes, cookies, cupcakes, coffee cakes, and more. Be sure to check the website for their seasonal treats and hours of operation. They also have frozen family sized desert pans to order.

Russel’s Bakery & Coffee

If you’re looking for a good tea bread to enjoy with your morning coffee, head to Russel’s Bakery. They have gluten-free lemon poppy seed, banana nut bread, harvest bread, and pumpkin bread. They also offer gluten-free chocolate chip cookies and gluten-free banana nut walnut muffins. They do warn that there is a chance of cross-contamination in their kitchen so eat at your own risk if you have a gluten allergy. Some of their gluten-free pastries are also available at other Austin coffee shops including Bennu Coffee, Summer Moon – Avery Ranch location, Cuppa Austin and more.

Amy’s Ice Cream

Amy’s Ice Cream is an Austin staple. It’s a fun place to take your family for ice cream. Amy’s does not list which ice cream is gluten free but their staff is usually pretty knowledgeable. They reportedly will use a new scoop if you let them know you have a gluten allergy. I’ve tried their Vanilla Bean in a cup and it was great! But again, their gluten-free options are not listed to be sure to ask and eat at your own risk.

Mr. Natural

Mr. Natural has two locations, one in East Cesar Chavez close to downtown, and the second location on South Lamar. They offer gluten-free and vegan pastry options including gluten-free empanadas, muffins, cookies, brownies, cake slices, Bavarian cones, and donuts.

Maaribu

Maaribu has one location and one food truck. All of their treats are gluten-free and non-gmo! They offer, cookies, bars, scones, cupcakes, muffins, and they have donuts on weekends only. Maaribu also offers small bites like Matcha cheesecake, dark chocolate mousse, and more. Drinks served are wellness lates, coffees, and teas.
