Gluten-Free St. Augustine Florida Beas Fine Food

Where to Eat Gluten-Free in St. Augustine, Florida

It was my first trip to St. Augustine Florida, and I fell in love with this city! There are so many things to see and do in this historic and beautiful place. Click here to see a list of must-see places in St. Augustine in my previous post. I was happily surprised that there were so many places to eat gluten-free. From burgers to seafood, to Mexican food, you’re sure to find something you’ll love!

On my first night, I stopped by Publix grocery store to grab some gluten-free snacks before ordering take-out. Publix was right over a bridge on the way to Vilano beach, about a 5 to 10-minute drive from downtown St. Augustine.

1.  One Twenty-Three Burgers

I ordered a burger online from One Twenty-Three Burger House. Unfortunately, I forgot to add the gluten-free bun to my burger order (I was tired after my flight and drive), so I only got a sad looking patty with cheese, and a piece of lettuce lol. It was a very good patty though! One Twenty-Three Burgers is down King Street and has its own parking lot. It’s a cute place to eat and has a good ice cream selection. The sad patty was tasty enough that I still recommend trying it.

2.  Bea’s Fine Foods & All-Day Café (whole restaurant is gluten-free!)

I stayed on Anastasia Island right over the Bridge of Lions. Bea’s Fine Foods & All Day Café was a short walk from my hotel. I found this restaurant on the Find Me Gluten-Free App. It’s not advertised but I confirmed with the waitress that the entire restaurant is gluten-free! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. I had the brisket biscuit, and it was amazing! I ordered it with the Sweet Potato Hash, and this was one of the most flavorful meals I’ve ever had!

3.  Southern Grounds

A great place to enjoy breakfast is Southern Grounds. I visited 2 different locations. The first time I sat inside at the bar and the second time I sat outside on the porch (because it was packed inside) but also because it was a beautiful morning. There was plenty of patio seating outside and they had an outdoor fireplace. They’re open from 6:30am – 9pm.

I had the 3-egg omelette with gluten-free toast and fruit both times. Then I grabbed a coffee and brownie. Everything was delicious! The brownie was a bit pricey at $7. It was too large for me to finish so it’d would be great for sharing.

 4.  Alms & Fare

On a wet day in St. Augustine, I went to dry off at Alms & Fare Bakery and Coffee Shop. I had come just down the street from taking photos of Magnolia Avenue. This was a cute coffee shop that has gluten-free and dairy free selections and the coffee was great.

5.  Whips Waffle Co.

Located in Colonial Quarter, this was a nice surprise to find! I was planning on grabbing a burger but had a change of plans when I stumbled on Whips Waffles. It’s a cute place and has a variety of choices of waffles and several gluten-free options! They put everything on top of the waffle, but I chose to have everything on the side. I asked for syrup and had the waffle first then ate the mac and cheese and BBQ after. All of it was fantastic! You’re then able to walk it off while shopping and exploring in Colonial Quarter.

6. Catch 27

Catch 27 is a seafood restaurant located in the heart of the historic district. They are open for dinner and have a gluten-free menu. Their fish, shrimp, and clams are caught locally and delivered fresh daily.

7.  Casa Reina Taqueria & Tequila

Casa Reina Taqueria is a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Old Town, near the Bridge of Lions.  I sat inside but suggest sitting outside if you’re there on a beautiful sunny day! This building has a 120-year history and is beautiful.

They do have a gluten-free menu, just ask your server. I ordered off the regular menu, but I let my server know I have Celiacs.  She confirmed with the kitchen to ensure everything on my order was gluten-free. I had the Pollo Enchiladas, and they were amazing, the whole meal was great! Living in Texas, I eat enchiladas regularly and wasn’t sure if I’d like Florida enchiladas and was happily surprised at how good they were! I’m excited to eat here the next time I come back.

They don’t have their own parking, so you’ll need to do street parking or park in one of the nearby garages.

Everything I ate in St. Augustine, Florida was amazing! I was happy to see so many gluten-free options in a variety of restaurants. As always, eat at your own risk and let your server know you have a food allergy. Bon Appetit 😊
